Tanger Med ferry port is located 40 km east of the city of Tangier, Morocco. It is one of the largest ports on the Mediterranean Sea. The Tanger Med Project was initiated by the Moroccan government to boost the economy of the region, the first port development phase went in to operation in 2007. The port is expected to reach full capacity by 2015, and once completed is expected to handle 8 million shipment containers, 7 million passengers, 700,000 trucks and 2 million vehicles.
